Our presentation - proposal for our film

This is the presentation proposing the theme and ideas for my group's teaser trailer.

Slide 1:
This is one idea for the title of our film. Our film is going to be based upon the game 'Spin the Bottle' as well as 'Truth or Dare'.

Slide 3:
As our genre is mainly horror with a hint of Psychological Thriller, we researched on story lines and narratives from other horror films.

Slide 4:
One common narrative would be when the protagonist and an accomplice - could range from one to a few - set foot in a isolated area where no help can be found. An example of this would be in the film 'The Human Centipede' where two girls are stuck in the forest at night and comes across a house.

Slide 5:
Another narrative would when the characters are forced into an event against their will and it becomes a survival for the fittest and gradually their primal instincts are revealed. For example, in 'Battle Royale' a class of high school teenagers are forced to kill each other for the fight for survival.

Slide 6:
One would be when it plays upon common fears such as insects. Another example would be the film 'Bug' which also plays upon a fear of insects

Slide 7:
A fight between good and evil is a common narrative for mainly the bloody horror movies such as 'The Exorcism' however, it can be used in non-bloody movies, for instance, 'The Omen' which involves a child which is also known to be the devil's child.

Slide 8:
Many films like to keep to the theme of supernatural origins such as evil forces, events or characters which interrupt one character's (could be the protagonist) life. 'Final Destination' would be a good example, as it combines both an evil force and a series of events which are of a supernatural origin.

Slide 9:
In a horror film, there are many stereotypes in terms of characters. However, for our teaser we will have some characters which break this convention, but we will keep some as they have a major role in our film.

Slide 10:
These are the common conventions for effects in a horror movie.

Slide 11:
These are the convention which are common in a horror movie to show who has more power, the good or the evil.

Slide 12:
These are the conventions used for editing.

Slide 13:
Note: Moodboard is in a previous post.

Slide 14:
This is the short synopsis of our film. We made it ambiguous so it wouldn't give away too much of the plot and keep the audience lingering in the wind. The type of language we used made it sound like a game which then sounds serious near the end; we are also making it appeal to our target audience which are mid-teens up to mid-twenties in the B, C1 and C2 social status. They can also relate to the characters.

Slide 15:
In the long synopsis, we used to convention of naming the characters as well as the actors and elaborating on the short synopsis so the audience would get a better understanding of the plot.

Slide 22:
These are possible locations we can film. The inside of the first building (left top and bottom) looks suitable for the placement of the haunted house, however, for a back up St Marylebone Church would be used instead.

Slide 23:
Note: Animatic is in a previous post.

Slide 24:
These are the key questions we would want the audience to wonder whilst watching the final version of our teaser. We will take into consideration these questions and leave them unanswered during the teaser so they would have to watch the movie in order to find our the answers.
